Large buildings, and a standby team for the airport

Together with our sister company, RCO Cleaning, we clean a couple of large buildings in Detroit, and we provide emergency services for commercial properties across the city.

We also keep a standby team for Signature Aviation at Detroit Metropolitan Airport: if something happens at its facilities, a crew is ready to go.

Homes across the city

We also answer for Detroit homeowners and landlords: basements that back up in a storm, pipes that burst in a cold snap, water from the floor above. Half of the city's homes were built before 1947, most with basements and older sewer connections.

How fast we reach Detroit

Our office in Southfield is 7.8 miles from the middle of Detroit: about 9.8 miles by road, or 17 minutes when traffic is light. Across Wayne County a crew is on site in about 60 minutes, day or night, and when you call we give you a real arrival time.

From our office, crews come down the Lodge Freeway (M-10) or the Southfield Freeway (M-39), or along Telegraph Road on the far west side; I-96 links the west side with Redford and Livonia.

  • One pipe for rain and sewage

Detroit has mainly a combined sewer system: rain and sewage share the same pipes, and most homes have a single sewer line with no separate storm line. When a storm overwhelms the system, it backs up through basement floor drains.

  • The biggest one-day rain in 80 years

On June 26, 2021, 5.77 inches of rain fell on Detroit, the most in a single day in at least 80 years. Three of the city's eight heaviest one-day rains in that time fell between 2014 and 2021.

  • August 2023

City officials said 5,000 Detroit homes had flood damage in the August 2023 storms, and the federal government later awarded Detroit $346 million aimed at preventing basement flooding.

Can Detroit's Basement Backup Protection Program help me?

Will my insurance cover a flooded basement in Detroit?

Often only in part. DWSD warns that most basement flood damage isn't covered unless you carry flood coverage and a sewer backup rider. We document everything from the first visit, so whatever coverage you have, your adjuster has what they need.
