Damage restoration for auto dealerships and service centers

Showrooms, service bays and parts rooms each react differently to water and smoke. RMO plans the cleanup so you can keep selling and servicing cars while the damaged areas are restored.

What water and fire do to a dealership

A dealership is several businesses under one roof. The showroom has glass walls, polished tile and finished offices. The service shop has floor drains, lift pits, compressed-air lines and diagnostic equipment, and the parts department is packed with boxed stock that soaks up water quickly.

Water in a service area is rarely clean. It picks up oil, coolant and brake dust from the shop floor and carries them into drains, pits and neighboring rooms, so cleanup treats it as contaminated. In the showroom, the hidden risks are wet drywall behind displays and moisture trapped under large tile floors.

A fire in the shop or a vehicle fire in a bay sends heavy, oily smoke through the building. The residue settles on tools, parts stock and vehicles, and shared ductwork carries it into the showroom and offices.

What a dealership needs from a restoration contractor

  • Vehicles protected before work starts

Your staff move vehicles out of harm's way, and any that remain are covered or walled off to keep dust and moisture off paint and interiors.

  • Service bays back in use quickly

Every closed bay means repair orders that wait. The work needs to be phased so most bays keep running while the affected ones are cleaned and dried.

  • Careful handling of shop equipment

Lifts, alignment racks, tire machines and diagnostic tools need cleaning and drying, then a check by your service vendor before they go back into use.

  • A showroom that stays presentable

Customers keep walking in during repairs, so containment, clean walkways and quiet daytime work keep the sales floor open and tidy.

How we work at a dealership

  • Phased around sales and service

We start with the areas that earn revenue, then work through the building in sections, with loud work before opening or after closing.

  • One contact for the dealership

Your general manager or facilities lead gets a daily update on progress, readings and the next day's plan, with early notice of anything that affects appointments.

  • Records for your carrier

Photos, moisture readings, drying logs and an itemized scope go to your insurance carrier and adjuster, and damaged parts stock is photographed before anything is thrown out.

Questions facility teams ask

Can the service department stay open during the cleanup?

Often, yes. When damage is limited to part of the building, we wall off the affected bays and phase the work so the rest keep running. If the whole shop is affected, we bring the most bays back first.

Should we move vehicles before your crew arrives?

If it's safe, yes. Move vehicles out of standing water and away from soot, and don't start one that sat in floodwater until it has been checked. Our crew covers or isolates any vehicles that have to stay inside.

Is water in a service bay considered contaminated?

Usually, yes. Water that crosses a shop floor picks up oil, fuel residue and chemicals, so it is extracted and handled separately. Drywall and other porous materials it soaks are usually removed rather than dried.
