Summary

  • We collect what you send us in our forms (such as your name, phone number and what happened) so we can answer your request or your job application.
  • We call you, or text you only if you chose text messages. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.
  • The website counts visits without cookies and without storing your IP address.
  • We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't share your phone number for anyone else's marketing.
  • To see, correct or delete your information, email info@rmomitigation.com or call 248-845-0000.

1. What we collect

What you send us

Our forms ask only for what we need to help you:

  • Service request: your name and phone number, and if you choose to give them, your email, company, the address of the damage, whether it is an emergency, what happened and a message.
  • Call-back request: your name and phone number, and if you choose to give them, your company and the address of the damage.
  • Job application: your name, phone number and email, and the position, your experience, certifications, when you could start, whether you have a driver's license, the city you live in (optional) and what you write about your experience. We don't ask for Social Security numbers, dates of birth or ID numbers.
  • Storm and freeze reminders: your email address.

With each form we also keep how you chose to be contacted (a call or text messages), the page you sent it from, the date and time, and the result of an automated check that the form was sent by a person and not a program. If you chose text messages, we keep the exact wording you agreed to (see section 4).

When you call, text or email us

We keep what you tell us so we can do the work: for example the details of the damage, your insurance information if you ask us to document a claim, and photos and notes from the job.

What the website records on its own

  • Visit statistics: which pages are viewed, taps on our phone number, forms sent, the name of the website you came from, campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), your type of device and browser, and your approximate city, region and country. The place is worked out by our hosting provider from your connection; we don't store your IP address. See section 6.
  • Site performance: Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which measure page views and loading speed without cookies.
  • Bot protection: when a form is sent, Vercel BotID checks signals from your browser to stop automated spam.
  • Server logs: like every website, our hosting provider briefly processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.

2. How we use it

  • To answer your request: to call, email or (if you chose it) text you, send a crew, and do the work you hire us for.
  • To document your job for your insurance company, when you ask us to.
  • To consider your job application and contact you about it.
  • To send the storm and freeze reminders you signed up for.
  • To see which pages are useful and improve the website.
  • To keep the website and our forms safe from spam, fraud and attacks.
  • To keep the records the law requires, and to protect our legal rights.

We don't sell personal information, we don't share it for targeted advertising, we don't show ads on this website, and we don't use your information for automated decisions about you.

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as described here:

  • Companies that run the website and our phones for us: Vercel (hosting, visit statistics and bot protection), Supabase (the database where form entries are stored), Resend (sending our emails) and Nextiva (our business phone and text messaging service; we may also use other phone and messaging services, or our staff's phones, to reach you). They handle the information on our behalf, under their own security and privacy terms.
  • Your insurance company and adjuster, when you hire us and ask us to document your claim.
  • Our sister companies, RCO Cleaning and RHO Hiring, only when you ask us to involve them.
  • Others when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of RMO, our customers or others.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or reorganized; this policy would continue to apply to your information.

We never share your mobile phone number or your agreement to receive texts with anyone else for their own marketing.

4. Calls and text messages

Our request, call-back and job application forms ask how you'd like us to contact you: a phone call or text messages, one or the other. Text is never chosen for you, and you don't have to choose it to get help. If you choose text messages, you agree to receive texts from RMO about your request (or your application), which may be sent with automated technology. Either way, we may also email you about it if you gave us your email address.

We keep a record of your choice: the exact wording you agreed to, the date and time, the page you were on, and your name and phone number. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP, by telling us on a call, or by emailing us. The full terms for our text messages, including how often we text and how to get help, are in our Terms of Use.

5. Emails

When you send a form with your email address, we email you a confirmation, and our team may email you about your request or application. If you sign up for storm and freeze reminders, we email you before the seasons that cause the most damage. To stop the reminders, reply to any of them and say so, or email info@rmomitigation.com. Every email we send includes our name and our office address.

6. Cookies and visit statistics

The public pages of this website don't use cookies. To count visits, the site keeps a random number in your browser tab's temporary storage, which is cleared when you close the tab; it doesn't identify you and isn't used on other websites. Visits by search engines and other automated programs aren't counted.

Our private staff portal, which only our own team can sign in to, uses cookies that are needed to keep staff signed in. Because we don't track you across websites, we don't change anything in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals; there is nothing to turn off.

7. How long we keep it

  • Requests that became a job, and the emails about them: for the job, its warranty and insurance questions, and our tax and business records, generally up to seven years after the job ends.
  • Requests that didn't become a job: up to three years.
  • Job applications: up to two years.
  • Records of your agreement to receive texts, and of opting out: at least five years after our last text to you, so we can show that we followed your choice.
  • Visit statistics: up to 25 months.
  • Storm and freeze reminders: until you unsubscribe.

After that we delete the information, or keep it only in a form that no longer identifies you.

8. How we protect it

Our website uses an encrypted connection. Form entries are stored in a database that the public website can add to but can't read; only a small number of our staff can see them, and they sign in with a password and a code from an authenticator app on their phone. No system is completely secure, so please don't send us bank details, Social Security numbers or medical information through the website.

9. Your choices and rights

  • See, correct or delete: email info@rmomitigation.com or call 248-845-0000, and tell us what you'd like. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we'll answer within 45 days. We may need to keep some records the law requires, such as a record that you asked us to stop texting you.
  • Stop text messages: reply STOP to any text, or tell us.
  • Stop reminder emails: reply to any of them and say so.

We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of there. If you live in a state that gives you more privacy rights, contact us the same way and we'll honor them.

10. Children

This website is meant for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Pictures made with AI

We may use pictures created or edited with artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and many of the pictures on this website were made that way, to illustrate our services, equipment, vehicles and the kind of work we do. Unless an image is described as a photograph of a specific job, property or person, treat it as an illustration: it doesn't show a real customer, a real customer's property or a specific job, and the people in it may not be members of our team.

We don't use your personal information, or photographs of you or your property, to create these images. If we ever want to show a photograph of your property or your job on this website, we'll ask for your permission first.

12. Visitors outside the United States

We offer our services only in Michigan, and your information is stored in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information is handled under this policy and United States law.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this policy and the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. If a change matters, we'll make it clear on this page.
